If you want to find out more about GIWP just read on the little text below. (there is a little scrowller on the bottom end left side.)
GIWP-ONCE started in mid of 2004 in Bremen, Germany, as an art and business project of Tobias Hunke.
The main idea was to introduce artists and musicians with a punk or subcultural background to a bigger (more mainstream) audience by advertising and distributing their art in a linked “(guess I was) punk” context, which involved art and music.
The first activities were putting up an internet mailorder, doing stalls on concerts/festivals and networking to other artist and business structures The first GIWP - “clothing line” and badges were produced.
In late 2004 Tobias Hunke had the idea for the "I can't relax in Deutschland"-Compilation, which was released in June 2006 with various bands from Germany against nationalism and patriotic attitudes in popculture (and in generall). A whole network of bands and political groups was formed to push this project into the mainstream media and was pretty successful - over 70 articles and various radio/tv presentations.
This project took most of the GIWP capacities till late 2006, and created a lot of new contacts and a strong business relationship to the ‘unterm-durchschnitt’ record label, which released the “I can’t relax in Deutschland” compilation.
Because of personal circumstances GIWP is operating in England now as well and started to manage and booking tours (check the booking section)
A big influence in the GIWP stratedgy is the D.I.Y. (do it yourself) practice, which is the best concept of making experiences and doing a market research without giving control away to early.
Another interest of GIWP is to give bands and artist support, advices and a realistic feedback for their future career, this includes the awareness and research into new technologies, ways of communication and (digital) distribution. (check the MUSIC FUTURE page)
